The Friends of the Florissant Fossil Beds in partnership with Pikes Peak Historical Society is pleased to offer a virtual seminar by Steve Plutt on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at 6 PM entitled “Times Gone By — Lake George, Colorado.” About the Presenter Steve Plutt is an avocational historian who grew up in Woodland Park, Colorado but has lived in Lake George for the past 28 years. A popular speaker, Steve has presented his research to historical societies and centers throughout the Pikes peak region, ranging Cripple Creek, Old Colorado City, Ute Pass, and the Pikes Peak Historical Society, to the City of Woodland Park Chamber of Commerce. the Lake George Charter School, and the Lake George Library. Most recently he was a presenter for the Pikes Peak Regional History Symposium celebrating the 150th anniversary of the City of Colorado Springs. Steve has restored and stabilized three pioneer homestead cabins around Lake George and serves on the boards of the Park County Historic Preservation Commission, the Lake George Community Park Association, and the Park Cemetery Board. He founded and runs an annual professional barrel racing competition in Lake George. A past member of the local school board’s Policy Committee, he previously enjoyed leading interpretive field trips for local school children and members of 4H.
