Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument will host a holiday open house at the visitor center on Saturday, December 13th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Friends of the Florissant Fossil Beds will be providing light refreshments from 1:00PM to 3:00PM.
Special programs will include:
10:00AM-12:00PM Ranger Guided Hike – Join Ranger Scott for a 2-hour guided hike on the Boulder Creek Trail (3 miles). Dress in layers and be prepared for winter conditions. Meet at the visitor center.
1:00PM – 3:00PM Rock Examination & Identification: Fascinated by an unknown rock you have in your personal collection? Bring your specimen to the open house and have it examined and identified by Geologist Dr. Bob Carnein.
Annual park passes are available to all visitors for just $15.00. These passes make great holiday presents and stocking stuffers. Throughout the day, visitors will receive a 20% discount off all regularly-priced merchandise in the store. There is a great selection of books on local geology and history as well as lots of kid-friendly activity books, games, and puppets.
